Stick A Fork In Me, I Sparkle

Color me Lame, but I LOVE TWILIGHT! I first saw the move, and then read the book. I am glad I saw the movie first, for if I had read the books and then saw the movie... I WOULD HAVE NEVER WATCHED ANOTHER MOVIE AGAIN!

At first I refused to watch the movie because of a review I had read. In this review a fan of my favorite T.V. show, Roswell, compared the relationship of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen to the relationship of Liz Parker and Max Evans. Well, me being stubborn I told myself and anyone who would listen not to watch to movie. I was convinced it was a copy cat version of a masterpiece. Yeah, I talked a bunch of shit and I was wrong (as was the reviewer).

I thought the story line in the movie was (for lack of a better world) stupid. I fell in love with the relationship. I related to Bella. I know how it feels to be the Plain Jane who has fallen for the Greek God. I know the insecurities that accompany that kind of connection and the desires that erase all rational thought. I loved the movie! And then I read the book.

THE BOOK IS SOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER! Things I didn't understand in the movie were explained in the book. Although the movie pretty much kept to the story line of the book, the movie left massive amounts of material (which I think was important) out.

I know it is hard to read a book and watch a movie where vampires sparkle. But the fact of the matter is, you just have to get over it. In every book there are differences in every supernatural being. Some vampires can turn into bats, some can't. Some you must only be bitten and you are a creature of the night, were in others you must also drink their blood and then parish -- only to rise again as a creature of the night. So what if Stephanie has a huge imagination... that's what makes it refreshing.

In conclusion I would like to make it clear. I LOVED the book, I still LOVE the movie, and I honestly recommend them. Even if you can't get past the fact that there are sparkly vampires with intoxicating breathe it's still an amazing love story.

  1. Loved it, too. I've seen three midnight premiers now... waiting for the fourth, a book I thoroughly enjoyed.
