First time author, Becca Fitzpatrick, has definitely knocked the ball right out of the park! She has built a world full of humans, immortals, and fallen angels.
Throughout the book you have no idea who to trust. There is no way to decipher who is playing on what team. You are left hanging, until the very end.
Nora is a normal high school student with a not-so-normal best friend named Vee. She has recently lost her father and her mother is away often on business. She does very well in school, but has very little interest in boys -- until Patch enters her life.
Patch is very mysterious, dangerous, and the all around "bad boy". Once he enters her life though, she can't seem to think about anyone or anything but him. The weird thing is he seems to know everything about Nora and be everywhere that she is. This confuses Nora, she fears for her life because of him, but feels completely safe when she is around him.
Then there is Jules and Elliot... what to say about this pair of weirdos. Jules seems a bit stuck up, but he is definitely hiding something. Elliot seems really super nice, maybe a bit desperate. I guess you could say he is like Ben from The Secret Life Of The American Teenager, way to bent on the object of his affection. In Elliot's case that object just happens to be Nora, the girl who is attracted to the mysterious Patch.
Needless to say there is somewhat of a love triangle, which always involves a fight. There is also a few villains to this story, but that is information i will not divulge. You will have to read the book to find out any more information. All I can say is that everything that happens will be the last thing you had ever expected.
Good job Becca, you definitely have mad skills.
